A NEW SACRAL BUILDING IN BERLINProgram
A New sacral building for Berlin city University Berlin University of Technology, 2008 Department of Constructive and Climate-optimized Building Collaborator Franziska Behrendt, Franziska Weinz Under the supervision of Prof. Hascher and Prof. Eddy Widjaja The sacral building is to serve the contemporary monotheistic religions - Christianity, Judaism and Islam - and to provide them with a common area in the center of the city. It is not only a place of worship, but also a cultural center, that is an open house and at the same time offers a room for the retreat of individuals. The goal was to create an introverted interior by a stepwise filtering of the urban space and to achieve a slow contemplation from the hustle and bustle of the city. The filtering is done by elements such as floor covering change, roof, composition of the outside walls, materials and lowering the worship space. Thus, a transition from public - semi-public - semi-private - private is created. |
